PureThread - London Launch - October 2012

SUSTAINABLE STYLE THAT CUTS IT.
THE HOTTEST ETHICAL BRANDS IN THE WORLD SHOWCASED IN LONDON FOR THE FIRST TIME. AN EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY TO RECALIBRATE YOUR WARDROBE (AND YOUR THINKING!).

From 8 - 26 October, 67 Old Street, London EC1V 9HW, British shoppers with a conscience and an eye for fashion get the opportunity to touch, feel and buy into the world’s hottest sustainable style brands. Jocelyn Whipple, leading light of Livia Firth's Green Carpet Challenge joins with Jill Heller, owner of New York'd legendary Pure Thread to host this exclusive event.

Finally British shoppers get a chance to try exquisite ethical brands from Kami Organic to Stewart & Brown, Henrietta Ludgate to Beautiful Soul, brought together for the first time in the UK. These are the brands proving to the world that ethics and chic go together. These brands are helping to redefine ethical fashion across the world.

If these brands are new to you, don’t worry! According to Whipple and Heller UK consumers have been starved of top quality sustainable chic. During our event we'll be selling fashion that is truly beautiful, pieces you can fall in love with, that will stay in your wardrobe for many years. "We think UK consumers deserve access to this fashion" says Whipple.
Broadcaster and writer, Lucy Siegle, Author of To Die For: Is fashion wearing out the world?  says, ‘I can’t wait for this event. This will show that sustainable style has gone up several gears and is now a serious wardrobe competitor. These brands are the perfect antidote to a fashion culture that has become fixated on disposablity and takes a heavy toll on people and planet"

Panchachuli U.K. Store has temporarily closed for maintenance while we update our new stock.

We will be opening again in September 2012 with lots of lovely new items and some old favourites as well!

This summer we visited India again and made the long trek up in to the Himalayas where the Panchachuli Women Weavers are based.
We visited with the design team from Timberland U.K. and NEST , so there will be lots of exciting new product development coming soon. We also took a videographer/photographer and can't wait to see the results, which we will upload when available.
Also, while at the factory, we saw our beautiful hand embroidered butterfly stoles for Livia Firth at Yoox being made, and these will shortly be available at www.yoox.com

Our next Autumn 2012 Newsletter will be available soon, and will contain all the latest product developments and new ventures.

In the meantime we will keep information updated on the Panchachuli U.K. Facebook page!

Welcome to the Spring 2012 Newsletter from Panchachuli U.K. As we look forward to another year, we'd also like to take this opportunity to tell you about some of the exciting developments that have taken place over the last Winter season.

Green Baby

Last year our ladies were busy hand knitting a beautiful range of 100% super soft cashmere blankets for Green Baby. We are absolutely delighted with the results which have now been added to the website at www.greenbaby.com

The two versions are in either a patchwork natural fawn and natural ivory design or plain natural ivory (image below)

Check out our Panchachuli link on the Green Baby website http://www.greenbaby.com/Luxury+Handknitted+Cashmere+blanket.htm

We will be extending the Panchachuli hand knitted baby range next season to include hats, mittens and scarves, all available in 100% Mongolian cashmere.

Carrie Parry

We are also thrilled for fashion designer Carrie Parry who has won The Green Award at Amsterdam Fashion Week in January 2012. Carrie has made an impressive mark on the fashion scene in the U.S.A. and her eco credentials are second to none.

Her Winter 2012 designs are just fabulous and feature our Panchachuli Lamb's wool fabrics in bright orange, magenta and green, alongside other carefully selected fabrics.

You can read all about Carrie at www.carrieparry.com

Ethical Fashion Forum

Mary King from Panchachuli U.K. has been selected for a Fellowship from the EFF. This is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with other companies and individuals over the coming year.

We took part again last October in a vibrant Global Source Expo at Sadlers Wells in London.

GOALS OF FELLOWSHIP 500

FELLOWSHIP 500 has been launched by the Ethical Fashion Forum with the aim of taking the fashion industry to tipping point- the point at which sustainable practices by fashion businesses become the rule rather than the exception to it- from field to final product.

The Fellowship will do this through:

  • Uniting 500 of the world's foremost innovators and leaders in the fashion sector every year
  • Supporting and facilitating collaboration between these leaders towards common sustainability goals
  • Inspiring innovative thinking, enabling positive change and creating an enlightened space to tackle the challenges of the fashion industry
  • Putting the spotlight on the industries leaders, globally, through the Fellowship scheme
  • Encouraging more fashion sector professionals and businesses to engage with sustainability and to become leaders in their fields, in every part of the world.
